Aspire training are working in conjunction with OPAL to hire staff for traineeship Care positions within their facilities. This program covers 5 units from the Certificate III in Individual Support. Please find further information below:


  • No previous experience is required however applicants will need to be willing to take part in 3 weeks training on WHS, Infection Control, Personal Care and First Aid (a mixture of distance and face to face learning) as well as 8 days’ work placement (over 2 weeks) with successful applicants being hired on completion.
  • All participants will receive a Nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for units completed from The Certificate III in Individual Support and options to go on and complete the full qualification. The successful applicants will be offered employment to complete the remainder of the qualification whilst working at one of the OPAL facilities.

(PLEASE NOTE EMPLOYMENT IS NOT GUARANTEED. The last Opal traineeship program was run in Newcastle and 8 out of 11 people who successfully completed the program were offered employment. Opal Aged Care are looking to hire staff across all their Newcastle, Maitland and Central Coast facilities. Students will be evaluated through-out the training and their clinical placement within one of the facilities to determine their suitability for the organisation and the role)

All applicants must be:

  • Willing to attend our information and interview session.
  • Available to attend 4 days per week.
  • Australian Citizen or Permanent Residents, residing in NSW.
  • Over 17 years of age (2020 school are eligible and encouraged to apply)
  • Ready and willing to work various hours and days of the week. (Employees can be rostered to commence from 6am in the morning with both day, afternoon and night shifts rostered)
  • Willing to undergo a full criminal check and have no criminal record (this is paid for by Aspire during the training).
  • Willing to obtain a flu shot prior to placement – As of May 1, 2020 the Federal Government has made it mandatory for all persons entering an Aged Care facility to have the flu vaccination.
  • Preference will be given to those looking for a career in the care industry as this is an excellent opportunity to gain employment prior to obtaining your full qualification.
  • Must be willing to undergo an eligibility and suitability check (attached to this email)
  • If you are not willing to accept a role with the facility (due to COVID or other reasons) please do not accept a position.
